OFB Everyday HeroesMost of what we see in the mainstream media is negative. Whether it is the disturbing coverage of war in Iraq, depressing reports that Americans are getting fatter or troubling images of disgraced professional athletes, negative news coverage of unfortunate, even tragic information has reached an all-time high. More than ever, people lead stressful and chaotic lives. And more than ever, the mainstream media leaves us feeling deflated and with less hope that we can do anything to improve our lives — or the world. For example, a news report on obesity will focus on the grim statistics and everything we are doing wrong; rarely, do we hear of families who are making the right moves. The news might relate that 16,000 children under age 5 die each day from starvation and malnutrition in the world, but tell nothing of the fact that more lives are saved through new medicines, new technologies and new social intervention programs. We hear endless reports on the drug scandals enveloping our sports heroes — and this might shake our faith in sport—until the story of two young softball players who carried an injured, opposing player around the bases, despite losing the game for doing so, reminds us that the spirit of sportsmanship is alive and well on playing fields across this country. More than ever, people are hungry for stories that give them meaning and uplift them. We may live in uncertain times, but we yearn to overcome the sense of hopelessness and negativity pervading society. We want to improve our lives and leave the world better off than we found it. And so, ORGANIC FOOD BAR has launched a new program called “OFB Everyday Heroes”, a campaign that features ordinary people rising up and doing extraordinary things. The inspiration for this new initiative was none other than our first OFB Everyday Hero, “Grandpa John” Raschke. Please take a moment to read his story below. Because the media is so focused on scandalous and sensational news stories, oftentimes the best, more meaningful stories never get told. They occur outside of the limelight and away from the TV cameras. No longer. It is the mission of OFB Everyday Heroes program to tell these stories — and in doing so, we hope to inspire you to bring out, and be, your best. Showing fidelity to a worthy purpose can inspire you and those around you to unimaginable heights. Seize this opportunity. We encourage you to set a motivating goal for yourself that somehow make the world a better place. Because, right now, our world desperately needs it. If you want to become an OFB Everyday Hero, tell us your story in an email to: info@organicfoodbar.com. ORGANIC FOOD BAR: It’s What’s Inside That Counts. |
